Anti-tank Razorback

Ok, this is the anti-tank version of the US APC from the Talon mod that I'm working on. It has 2 x 105 dual-action howitzers on it. Although nearly all weapons above a pistol in size use Railgun technology in 200 years when the mod takes place there is a new form of protection that has decreased the effectiveness of railgun anti-tank weapons, magnetic shielding. Railguns work by magnetically accelerating a superheated piece of metal at a target at incredible speeds. Magnetic shielding is simply a magnetic barrier around a vehicle designed to decelerate incoming projectiles to the point where they lack the neccessary force to penetrate the target's armor.

The Dual-Action Howitzer was designed to attempt to solve this problem by using a combination of a traditional chemical propellant charge and a rocket motor to propel a projective made of non-magnetic metal. Effectively a rocket-cannon hybrid, it works by first using a comparatively small traditional charge to launch the round out of the barrel after which a rocket motor in the round ignites and further propels the round. This solves the acceleration problem of rockets by removing the need for the rocket motor to accelerate the round through the initial boost given by the traditional charge. The combination of the 2 propellant methods also allow for the overall ratio between the size of the round and the size of its charge to be decreased, allowing for larger bore weapons to be used in more compact spaces than was previously possible.

Although a relatively recent addition to the US Arsenal the Dual-Action Howitzers, or Duhs as they are commonly known, are quickly becoming standard for smaller vehicles which cannot effectively mount anti-tank railguns with enough power to overcome magnetic shielding. The weapons were originally seen by many as less reliable than Railguns as they still have a minimum range of 120 meters before the round reaches its maximum speed, but their frontline success is quickly overcoming this stigma.
